A Little Background on the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority…
On January 15, 1908, a group of nine young women founded Alpha Kappa Alpha at Howard University in Washington, DC as a means for improving the opportunities available to women and minorities at the time. Over a century later, Alpha Kappa Alpha maintains their commitment to bettering the community through sisterhood, scholarship, and service to ALL mankind. The first intercollegiate African American sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha has a nucleus of more than 200,000 women in over 950 chapters around the globe.
