Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority was founded on April 9, 1990 at The University of Iowa by five women who are tenderly referred to as “the founding mothers” -- Gloria Cuevas, Julieta Miller, Maria Pineda, Danell Riojas, Guadalupe Temiquel. It is the fastest growing latina sorority with 90 chapters. The colors are Shocking Pink and Majestic Purple and the sorority motto is “Culture is Pride, Pride is Success.” Interests can join through a chapter that is associated with a college or university.
